A woman tunes her shamisen, looking out at the moon rising above the river. Kiyochika showed the transformation from traditional to modern Japan in fascinating ways. He not only showed new items like this western-style lantern, but used strong shadows and other western techniques in his prints to also emphasize the modern and exotic, which was becoming the norm at light speed.

Condition: Excellent impression, color and condition. Barely noticeable center fold.
