First edition of this charming, prewar scene of old Tokyo. A beauty walks beneath a glowing orange lantern, her traditional Japanese umbrella shielding her against the rain. Her surroundings and her dress are timeless, and there is no hint of the postwar Tokyo to come. The seal at left reads in part “Doi Sadaichi”, which indicates a prewar, first edition printing.
