Looking the river sanzu-no-kawa in the background Kabuki actors in the roles of the brave worriers from the book Suikoden fight with enma, the king of the hell in the carriage and his servants as well as devils. It is said that the enma judges what punishment the dead should get according to the record he keeps. The dead people come over the river sanzu-no-kawa on the seventh day after their death.( “San” meaning three indicates three evils: the hell, the starving ghost, and the beast.) At the back near the river the water is boiling in a big kama with a yellow lid. On the left is a spiky mountain.
