Kagekiyo as played by Kawarazaki Gonjúró (right), and Mio-no-tani by Nakamura Shikan (left). This is the famous Shikoro-biki scene from one of Kabuki Kagekiyo dramas, in which Kagekiyo struggles to pull the neck-plates of the armor of Mionoya. In the legend of the Genpei Battle when Aku-shichibei Kagekiyo of Heike Clan catches Mionoya Shiró Kunitoshi of the enemy Genji-Clan. Both were very strong but at the end Kagekiyo has the piece in his hands but Mionoya escapes. From distance both exchange laughs about the strength of Kagekiyo’s arms and of Mionoya’s neck . This original scene is used later in different parts of Kagekiyo dramas such as "Hanakurabe deru nasake zukushi“ performed in 1861.
