The courtesan Koman concentrates on a difficult task; she must write a false letter to appease a wicked thief. On her shamisen behind her is written“Godairiki”, a phrase used by courtesans to seal their love letters. The story of Koman is based on an incident that took place at a brothel in Osaka in 1737. It was dramatized into a kabuki play in 1792.
Condition: Excellent impression and color. Very good condition. Narrow margin on two sides.
