A woman is playing shamisen while a man with a fan is singing gidayû songs. Probably she is giving him a lesson. Another shamisen is hanging on the wall. The writings have numbers: seventeen and eighteen. The writing is still being worked out, lending to the extemporaneous air of the composition. Hokuba was a student of Hokusai and is mainly known for his surimono designs.
