Title: Moon and Fujami Jikyû 名月や
Series: One Hundred Aspects of the Moon 月百姿

Fukami Jikyû walks jauntily in the Yoshiwara amidst a rain of cherry blossoms. The poem he composes challenges the radiance and beauty of the moon itself, and his stance conveys supreme confidence. His black kimono has black-on-black patterning. The title cartouche reads: “The full moon, coming with a challenge, to flaunt its beautiful brow” --Fukami Jikyû. A stunning example of this terrific design. With strong woodgrain in the sky and deep blindprinting in the white title cartouche.
