Dramatic nighttime view of  Mori Motonari raising his signal to lead his troops against Sue Harutaka at the famous site of Itsukushima at the Battle of Miyajima in 1555. Yoshitoshi has even placed the famous offshore torii gates in the foreground. The fight is taking place during a storm, and rain slashes down in streaks of white and grey, as the waves churn in turmoil.

Condition: Excellent impression, color and condition. Untrimmed and unbacked. Unusual to find with these untrimmed “bonus” margins on the top and left.  Dimensions: ôban 37 x 25.4 cm
