Waiting for the Tide (Shio-machi). We see two boats in full sail passing by a collection of moored sailboats. In the distance we see various mountain peaks of various shades and a sky that is light blue above and soft purple at the horizon. Yoshida chartered a boat with two of his friends for a sketching/painting excursion that explored the Inland Sea in March of 1930. This design was chosen as the cover image for the Abe catalogue raisonné. This work was collected in Japan by a member of the US Office of Civilian Personnel in the late 1940s and has never been framed.
Condition: Excellent impression and color. Very good condition. Minor stains in sky and some wrinkles along edge. Two imperfections in paper in the sails of the center boat.
