Title:  Omuro 御室   Date: 1940

We see the 17th century Niomon entrance gate to Ninnaji Temple, clusters of visitors in traditional kimono enjoying the spring outing. The gate is famous for its guardian statues, which can be here glimpsed behind the wooden gates that flank the entrance. Omuro is another name of Ninnaji temple in Kyoto, which was founded in 888 and is the head temple of the Omuro school of the Shingon sect of Buddhism. The temple is a World Heritage Site and is famous for its Omuro Sakura cherry trees, which bloom later in the spring than other varieties.
