Following his internment during WWII, Obata chose to focus on sumi painting. He had many students over the decades, and one could guess that rather quick brush paintings like this one were done as demonstration during one of his many classes. His brush is unerring; few can relate so much information with such economy. This is from a group of about ten such brush sketches; most are signed, but some lack his signature.

Condition: Excellent condition; no toning or stains.
