We see two ladies enjoying a summer holiday excursion on a rowboat on a lake in Kuruizawa. Kuruizawa is a mountain resort town in Nagano prefecture; it was known in the Edo Period as a station on the Nakasendô, and in the 20th century as host of the 1964 Olympic equestrian events and the curling event of the 1998 Winter Olympics. Masao Maeda was a sosaku hanga artist who met Hiratsuka Un’ichi in 1923, and later joined the First Thursday Society, which was led by Onchi Koshiro.
