Tsukuba Mountain Seen from Sakura River in Hitachi. A woman heading for the fields, hoe and lunch in hand, heads along a path towards a bridge. Coming across the brdige are a man leading his horse, both straining against the wind. The wind is also evident in the ranches of the willow tree and the woman’s trailing headscarf. A strong contrast to Kiyochika’s war designs, the defining feature of this series is its utter peace and tranquility and painterly feeling. This is number 20 in the series.
