Two tattooed palanquin bearers take a moment beneath a blooming cherry tree to towel off. Kagoya is the title of a special kabuki dance performance based on the 1st act of the Chushingura, and involves a tattooed palanquin bearer. A preliminary translation of this scarce design is “Kagoya Ichisuke/ inakazamurai/ kagoya Wakichi” Saya and Wakichi.
