“Hibiscus” (Fuyô): The actor Sawamura Tosshô II seems to be drying himself off on a hot summer day. His humorous comparison (mitate) to the hibiscus flower in the inset cartouche is not immediately evident to the modern viewer. Note the transparency of the summer fabric that he is draped in. Printed on deluxe, heavy paper.
