Hakukada (or Hakkwaja) Yôshun 白花蛇楊春 snarls at an unseen foe, raising his sword with both hands. He stands in front of a waterfall, with the wind whipping his Chinese-style garments and two birds flying behind him. His Chinese name is Yang Chun.

Kuniyoshi made a name for himself as the master of warrior prints with his first Suikoden series in the 1820s. He loved this Chinese novel and its opportunity to show burly heroes in exotic lands fighting in extreme conditions.
