Nakamura Shikan as Oniwakamaru. Oniwakamaru is the childhood name of the great warrior Benkei, who was famous for his skill with weapons and later came to serve the great Minamoto Yoshitsune. Here we see the young man as part of a kabuki drama, holding a large curved blade and posed next to a waterfall in autumn. The rounded updo hairstyle seems to be quite specific to this role.
