The Army Advancing on the Ice to Attack Weihaiwei (Ikaiei kôgeki hyôjo no shingun). We see a Japanese officer, clad in his warm, fur-lined coat, overseeing his troops as they cross the ice in a long line towards their next battle. The general’s horse is even fitted with a warm blanket against the freezing cold. In the distance is a deep red sun against a purple sky; it is difficult to say whether this is sunrise or sunset. This work was created in the final months of the Sino-Japanese War.
