Kabuki scene from the Four Brave Samurai of Minamoto-no-Yorimitsu and the Courtesan Spider Witch (Tsuchi gumo no sei to shi-ten-nô ). A scene relating to the famous story of Yorimitsu and the Earth Spider. Here the spirit of the Earth Spider seems to be in the guise of the courtesan Usugumo. Kuniyoshi returned to this story numerous times. The center reads: “Courtesan Usugumo, actually a Spider witch, played by "Sawamura Dan-no-suke" ( keisei Usugumo jitsuwa kumo no sei - Sawamura Dan-no-suke). Right side reads: Standing figure: "Tsui Sadamitsu", played by "Onoe Baikô". Kneeling figure: "Sakata Kintoki", played by "Nakamura Shikan". Left side reads Standing figure: “Urabe Suketake “, played by "Nakamura Nakatarô". Kneeling figure:"Watanabe no Tsuna”, played by "Ishikawa Kyûzô". Behind them are the many ghosts that seem to be causing the fever of Yorimitsu.

Condition: Excellent impression and color. Very good condition. Some trimming.
