Shadow Picture of the Forms of the One Hundred Night Demons (Hyakki yagyo sugata utsushi-e). Print showing a magic lantern that would rotate above a candle flame and project images of these yokai spinning around the room. There seem to be two of the long-armed people holding broken fans, one long-legged person, a centaur-like yokai lower left, a yokai with a hole in his stomach and a long-eared yokai at top. The Night Parade of One Hundred Demons is a classic part of Japanese folklore, and Kyosai is the undisputed master of his time of ghost and demon portrayal. The feeling of this one is complete, hilarious, pandemonium. Very scarce.
Condition: Excellent impression, good color, very good condition. Unbacked.
