Cherry trees laden with fluffy pink blossoms reach their branches towards the bright yellow full moon, which glows from behind the famous five-storey pagoda at Ueno Park. Titled in Japanese “Haru Yoi”, or Evening in Spring, this is from the only known (first) edition, with the date (Showa 23) shown at bottom left. The artist produced only eight documented designs with the publisher Kinjiro between about 1948 and 1950; the publisher did not affix a seal to these designs, and little is known about him. Titled “Pagoda. Ueno Park.” in romaji with a stamp, lower left.
Condition: Excellent impression, color and condition. Mint.
