Hokkei: Surimono of the Dragon King Ryujin Presenting Sacred Jewels (SOLD)

The Dragon King Ryujin in his underwater domain holds before him in offering the sacred jewels known as Manju and Kanju that control the tides. His long hair streams behind him, as does his royal raiment, moved by the ocean currents. Atop his head is a dragon helmet, the emblem of his status as the king of the dragons. Behind him are rocks with attached seaweed. Perhaps this surimono was created on the occasion of the new year of the Dragon, 1820. With extensive silver and bronze metallic pigments. Extremely scarce.

Condition: Excellent impression. Very good condition. Good color. Unbacked, but with remnants of previous mounts on verso.
