Title: Fujiyama from Miho 三保

Mount Fuji rises against a clear sky, the snow-capped peak showing hints of red and pink, perhaps from sunset. Miho is a black sand beach in Shizuoka prefecture that is part of the Mount Fuji UNESCO World Heritage Site, known for its ideal views of Mount Fuji. The distant shore is today developed, but here it seems still untroubled by modern development. This work was collected in Japan by a member of the US Office of Civilian Personnel in the late 1940s and has never been framed. Particular attention was paid in printing the water, as it has a subtle richness and depth. Only when a Yoshida print is completely unfaded (as here) can we appreciate what a perfectionist Hiroshi was when it came to capturing the exact colors of nature.

Condition: Excellent Impression and color; very good condition. Small spot in sky.  Never framed.
