Three carefully detailed specimens of hanashôbu hybrids claim the picture plane. Across the canal we see sightseers appreciating the beauty of the May bloom of these beautiful irises, which came to be exported to the west in the late 19th century. With strong woodgrain evident in the largest flower as well is in the sky behind.
