A semicircular view of the Sumida River from an elegant restaurant is presented to the viewer as perfectly as the impeccable dishes and flower arrangements would be to an physical patron. Like a periscope view from the Edo Period, we can feel the excitement of spring and the quickening heartbeat of a visitor en route to the Yoshiwara. There is beautiful woodgrain evident in the sky, sea and frame, indicating an early edition.
