Artist: Takahashi Hiroaki (Shotei) (1871-1945)
Title: Kawaguchiko, Unoshima Cormorant Island 高橋 松亭 / 川口湖鵜の嶋
Date: Ca. 1929
Fuji rises in the distance from our view on Lake Kawaguchi, trees in bright autumn color along the island’s rocky shore to the left. Unoshima island is uninhabited, although there is a shrine to Sarasvati and an annual festival held there. It is an Important Cultural Property, probably due to the Jomon period earthenware that has been excavated from the island. This is from a rare series published by Fusui Gabo, and the blocks from this publisher were destroyed during WWII.
Condition: Excellent impression, color and condition. Some very tiny discoloration at top deckle edge at left.
Dimensions: 26 x 39 cm
