Koson 小原古邨 : Flycatcher and Wisteria

A blue and white flycatcher (Cyanoptila cyanomelana) clings to a slender wisteria branch, leaning forward with interest as it eyes a large spider crawling upon a silk line at bottom. The wisteria itself is beautifully depicted as the centerpiece of the design, with the flowers, stems and leaves all given careful and painterly consideration. A scarce and early Koson in beautiful, unfaded condition.

Condition: Excellent impression, color and condition. Some toning to verso.
