Ujigawa Kajiwara Kagesue, Sasaki Takatsuna, miju uma. Kajiwara Kagesue and Sasaki Shiro Takatsuna ford the Uji River, each clutching the saddles of the famous horses Ikezuki and Surusumi. A rain of arrows flies above, with the remnants of the bridge pilings shown behind them. This is known as the “Race at Uji River”, from the Tales of the Heike, where these two Genji warriors compete to be the first across in order to engage the enemy forces at the behest of Minamoto Yoritomo. A scarce design, with the underwater view of the swimmers of particular skill and effect.

Condition: Excellent impression and color. Good condition. Works are backed, attached and there is a fold in the middle of the triptych.
