Yabuhara Kengyô has knocked out a traveler in front of a roadside stone deity at night. Lightning flashes against black skies, above as he unties his victims clothes and searches him for valuables. He holds a silver pin in his teeth and the man’s belt in his hand. The victim’s traveling hat and parcel are seen in the foreground. This series has illustrations of popular stories of drama and action, each told by different storytellers and retold by Kanagaki Robun. The names of storytellers are mentioned in the red cartouche following the series title.
Condition: Very good impression and color. Good condition. Lightly backed and trimmed.
