The Actors Ichikawa Omezo IV and Nakamura Tokizo II performing the dance “The Crane and the Turtle.”  Tsuru Kame is a celebratory dance, first performed in 1851. It is still occasionally staged to commemorate auspicious events. Both the crane and the tortoise are symbols of good fortune and longevity in the East, as the crane is reputed to live for 1000 years and the tortoise for 10,000 years.

Condition: Excellent impression and color; very good condition. Some stains upper left corner.
