Snow falls in round flakes on the Gyeonghoeru Pavilion at Gyeongbokgung Palace in Seoul, South Korea. The beautiful red buildings are blanketed by a soft layer of snow. A pine overhangs the manmade lake in this very Hasui-esque scene of classic architecture that is built in harmony with nature. This two-story pavilion was originally built in 1413; the structure seen here dates to 1867, and was one of the few structures at the palace that survived the Japanese occupation. Hasui traveled to Korea in the summer of 1939 at the invitation of the Korea Railway Bureau. Although the copyright was originally owned by Osaka Kansai Bijutsusha, the series was printed by Watanabe, and the copyright was eventually transferred to Watanabe in 1940.  For some reason this is the scarcest design in this series. First edition. Very scarce.
