Peaceful scene of a woman in traditional attire visiting the Tsuhima Shrine during a summer rainshower. She has the the grounds to herself. Rain is falling and the deep green backdrop of the trees brings out the orange/red colors of the shrine. Being spared WWII destruction, this shrine looks much the same today as it did when Hasui visited in the 1940s. With the seal of Ono Gintaro, the famous printer, lower right. Hisao Shimizu shared in a personal communication that Gintaro affixed his seal to works that he was particularly proud of. First edition, with the round Watanabe seal that was in use after WWII in the lower right.
Condition: Excellent impression, color and condition.
