Title: Kotsuki River, Kagoshima 鹿児島甲突川

Series: Selection of Scenes of Japan 日本風景選集 Nihon fûkei senshû)

A full moon casts a faint glow over this winter scene of the Kotsuki River, which flows through the city of Kagoshima in Kyushu. The elements that lend warmth to the coolness of the scene are the bright yellow lights that shine from the left. Kagoshima is sometimes called “Naples of Japan” because of its warm climate and clear blue seas. Rare, pre-earthquake design in mint condition. The yellow in the windows glow with bright color, proving that the work is unfaded. From a limited edition of 300. Numbered verso. This is from one of the very few Watanabe Hasui designs that had edition numbers.
