Kasuga, Kumamoto (Kumamoto Kasuga-chô). Twilight falls on a peaceful village, a lone yellow window beckoning, joined with its shimmering reflection. Image is very similar to a 1922 scene that Hasui designed; this one is larger and has more presence. Works done in the late 1930s tend to be quite scarce due to the wartime conditions.  Provenance: From the personal collection of the late Hasui scholar and curator Hisao Shimizu. 

Condition: Excellent impression; very good color and condition.
