Three bright yellow lights shine from windows, beacons from the homes at the end of our path, middle right. At left a canal flows into the sea, and textured clouds float in an early evening sky. Hasui has effectively captured the colors and atmosphere of early evening, with very subtle tonalities and shading. An evocative evening scene, where one feels the calm of a peaceful village in the prewar era. Kamezaki cho is in present-day Aichi Prefecture, south of the city of Nagoya. With the earliest Watanabe seal used during this period, right, used between 1924-1930, making this a first edition.
