Mount Koya is the location of a monastic complex belonging to the Shingon sect of esoteric Buddhism, and for centuries has been a popular pilgrimage site. Here we see what looks like a monastic figure bearing an umbrella head towads the warm lights of his peaceful abode. Technically this snow scene is quite astonishing.
