Yoshino Zaodo. Although fond of shadow-filled scenes in his later years, this one shows comfort and peace, with cheerful blossoms brightly shining to the left of the entrance to the famous 15th century Kinbusen Temple. We see a cluster of visitors bow respectfully to the unseen shrine at right. Provenance: From the personal collection of the late Hasui scholar Hisao Shimizu. This exact print is illustrated in “The Art of Kawase Hasui”, published in 2013 by Tokyo Bijutsu, page 173.
