Title: White Cat and Kitten 白い親猫と子猫  Date: 1956

Adorable pairing of a white angora cat and her kitten. The mother’s tail curls protectively around the fluffly little kitten, whose expression is that of a baby who has just woken up from a nap. Sekino created a number of terrific cat designs, and each of his subjects have unique personalities.

He actually grew up near Munakata Shiko in Aomori, and although 11 years apart, they were friends. He won his first prize for a woodblock in 1935 at the 4th Nihon Hanga Kyokai.
