The great 16th century warrior Kobayakawa Takakage (1532-1597) sits fearlessly as the wise Tengu of Mount Hiko appears in a mysterious fog. The Tengu is attired as a yamabushi, or itinerant mountain priest with a robe featuring oxidized lead pigment. With a three-color cartouche (first edition).
