The actor Nakamura Utaemon III enacts the “throwing beans” ceremony to ward off demons in the new year. We get to see an actual demon floating on a black and grey cloud in the sky above him. The demon seems to be beating a retreat. He wears a pouch with writing and has a hand towel around his neck. Yoshikuni worked in the region of Osaka; the actor prints from this area have distinctive features that are different from the prints produced in Edo.

Condition:  Very good impression, color and condition. Areas of minor repair and crease along left edge.
