Yoshida: Fujiyama; First Light of the Sun (Sold)

  • Sold.

Artist: Yoshida Hiroshi
Title: Fujiyama; First Light of the Sun
Date: 1926

Oversized work showing the magical moment at down where the first light of the sun hits the summit of Mount Fuji, which rises like a mirage of perfect symmetry above a small village nestled in trees. The sky glows with subtle shades of orange, pink and purple; colors which are here completely unfaded. A rare design from the series “Ten Views of it Fuji.” At more than 70 cm wide, this was a work of unprecedented size, and Yoshida purchased a huge mountain cherry tree to be able to produce this and several other oversized prints. Provenance: Acquired directly by the owner from the Yoshida Family and never framed.

Condition: Excellent impression, color and condition. A few minor wrinkles lower margin.
Dimensions: 58 x 75 cm (paper size)
Literature: Abe catalog number 48.
Seal: Jizuri (“self-printed”) in ink
Signature: Yoshida in ink and Hiroshi Yoshida in pencil
