Also in Volume I is an appendix for miscellaneous prints and book illustrations and an appendix of signatures and seals, as well as an index of the catalogue numbers. Volume II includes color plates of all 613 woodblock prints, from the first work in 1918 to his final masterpiece in 1957. Please note that we may ship either the  2008 edition or the 2003 edition, which has the Moon at Magome design on the cover. Both are shrinkwrapped, new from the publisher. (The 2008 edition includes the DVD that shows Hasui in 1956 himself creating a Japanese woodblock print as well as the printing process of a woodblock print and designs that were not included in the 2003 edition of this publication.) Kawase Hasui (1883-1957) is a towering figure in 20th century Japanese woodblock prints, the most important one of that century. The vast majority of his designs were with his collaborative partner, the publisher Watanabe Shozaburo; together they created more than 600  landscape scenes of Japan. Early editions of his prints are becoming increasingly scarce, and many of his scenes have become iconic images of prewar Japan. This must-have resource for the Hasui enthusiast is currently out of print (with some eye-popping prices elsewhere), but we have obtained a number of new, shrink-wrapped volumes that we are pleased to be able to offer. 592 Pages.
