Nitta Yoshioki’s ghost threatening revenge on Edo Nagakado, who is thrown backwards in alarm and surprise. Kiyochika did not do many “ghost” designs, unlike Yoshitoshi, but here we can compare the two as Yoshitoshi showed the same scene in “New Forms of Thirty-Six Ghosts”. The ghost here is surrounded by lightning and has no feet, in accordance with the Japanese tradition of ghost depiction.
