Title: Tattooed Fishmonger on Nihonbashi Bridge

“View of Nihonbashi Bridge from Edo Bridge”. A gentle and humorous allusion to Hiroshige’s version of the same view in his famous series “100 Famous Views of Edo”. Instead of just the bonito and the bridge railing, here we see the tattooed fishmonger carrying a basket of bonito along the semi-modernized riverbank. This view is somehow very modern in feeling, also alluding to the coming 20th century.
