Fujiyama; First Light of the Sun
Date: 1926
Oversized work showing the magical moment at dawn where the first light of the sun hits the summit of Mount Fuji, which rises like a mirage of perfect symmetry above a small village nestled in trees. The sky glows with subtle shades of unfaded orange, pink and purple. A rare design from the series “Ten Views of Fuji.” At more than 70 cm wide, this was a work of unprecedented size, and Yoshida purchased a huge mountain cherry tree to be able to produce this and several other oversized prints. This work has never been framed.
