Sunset at Ichinokura, Ikegami
Date: 1928
Ikegami Ichinokura (sekiyô). The sun sets a brilliant red against what are perhaps tea fields and a row of tall evergreen trees. Narazaki wrote “There are two versions of this image... This scene has greatly changed, and today it is a drab, densely built-up area of houses. Such realistic depictions by Hasui have become valuable sources of cultural information. In this respect, he approximates the print designer Utagawa Hiroshige.”
