Field Artillery in the Rain
Date: 1894
Our Field Artillery Attacks the Enemy Camp at Jiuliancheng (Waga yasen hôhei Kyûrenjô bakuei kôgeki). Somber evening scene showing the moment after the cannon is fired. Smoke drifts from the barrel and an explosion is glimpsed in the distance, through the rain. An excellent example of a night rain scene. The Smithsonian accurately dubbed Kiyochika “Master of Night”.
